Upcoming Meeting: Special Education Advisory Committee of PGCPS Scheduled to Meet October 9

The Special Education Advisory Committee of Prince George County Public Schools (SEAC) invites parents, caregivers, educators, and community members to join us for our upcoming meeting on October 9, 2025! This is a great opportunity to:

  • Learn about resources and supports for students with special needs
  • Share your voice and experiences
  • Stay informed about what's happening in special education across our schools

Meeting Details

The meeting will take place on Thursday, October 9, 2025. The meeting will be held at the Prince George County School Board Office, located at 6410 Courts Drive, Prince George, Va., 23875 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

The meeting is open to the public both in-person and virtually via Zoom. To participate virtually, attendees can register at the link below. After registering, participants will receive a confirmation email containing details on how to join the meeting.

What is the Special Education Advisory Committee of Prince George County Public Schools?

The Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC) of the Prince George County Public Schools is organized and functions in accordance with state and federal requirements. SEAC members are volunteers who are appointed by the School Board to serve for one-year terms. The primary responsibilities of the committee include:

  1. Advise the School Board of needs in the education of students with disabilities;
  2. Participate in the development of priorities and strategies for meeting the identified needs of students with disabilities;
  3. Submit periodic reports and recommendations regarding the education of students with disabilities to the School Board through the Superintendent;
  4. Assist in interpreting plans to the community for meeting the special needs of students with disabilities for educational services;
  5. Review policies and procedures for the provision of special education and related services prior to submission to the School Board; and
  6. Participate in the review of the Annual Special Education Plan prior to submission to the School Board.
